November 30th, 2018
SAN DIEGO, CA – The San Diego Latino Film Festival is thrilled to present the theatrical engagement of Alfonso Cuarón’s latest masterpiece, ROMA, set to begin on December 14th, 2018 at the Digital Gym Cinema in North Park. The film, Cuarón’s most personal to date, is a love letter to the women who raised him and a celebration of Mexican culture. ROMA has garnered universal critical acclaim and is the winner of various recognitions, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and the Best Film, Best Director, and Best Cinematography Awards from the New York Film Critics Circle.
Official Synopsis: Alfonso Cuarón’s (Gravity, Children of Men, Y Tu Mama Tambien), ROMA follows Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a young domestic worker for a family in the middle-class neighborhood of Roma in Mexico City. Delivering an artful love letter to the women who raised him, Cuarón draws on his own childhood to create a vivid and emotional portrait of domestic strife and social hierarchy amidst political turmoil of the 1970s.
