Media Arts Center San Diego’s 25th Anniversary San Diego Latino Film Festival
25 Years of Sharing Our Passion for Cine Latino & Changing Lives Through Film
San Diego, CA- March 15 – 25, 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of Media Arts Center San Diego’s San Diego Latino Film Festival. The festival will take place once again at the AMC 18 Fashion Valley theaters and Digital Gym CINEMA in North Park. The festival has grown from a student film festival (Cine Estudantil) focusing on works by Latinos and/or about the Latino Experience into one of the larger and well-respected Latino film festivals in the world.
This year’s celebrations will include tributes to filmmakers & actors, a Virtual Reality Lounge and the 25th Anniversary Awards Ceremony Gala in addition to over 160 films from Latin America, the United States, and Spain, Film Talks, celebrity appearances, live concerts & performances at the Sonido Latino stage, Sabor Latino – Food, Beer & Wine Fest, art exhibits, and parties.
Highlight films include: political thriller LA CORDILLERA (Argentina) starring Ricardo Darín; the hilarious comedy UNA MUJER SIN FILTRO (Mexico) starring Fernanda Castillo and Sofía Niño de Rivera; the romantic drama CAMINO A MARTE (Mexico) starring Luis Gerardo Méndez; colonialist drama ZAMA (Argentina/Chile) starring Daniel Giménez Cacho; and the critically acclaimed romance LA NOVIA DEL DESIERTO(Argentina/Chile) featuring Paulina García. The festival will also include an advance screening of the new Starz show VIDA, and a 25th Anniversary showcase featuring BAJO LA MISMA LUNA (Mexico / USA), starring Kate del Castillo, Eugenio Derbez, and America Ferrera, and MOSQUITA Y MARI, directed by Aurora Guerrero. Confirmed guests include Saul Lisazo, actor in the film SEPTIEMBRE, Michel Franco, award winning director for LAS HIJAS DE ABRIL, and Pepe Serna, renown Chicano actor, who stars in film FLAVOR OF LIFE. Plus, a special pre-screening SINGING OUR WAY TO FREEDOM (USA), celebrating the music career and life of local music legend, Ramon “Chunky” Sanchez.

Festival Passes are now on sale. The special edition all-access pass *25th Anniversary VIP Pass* can be purchased for $325. A Festival Pass with Media Arts Membership can be purchased for $225 (includes over 160 films, front of the line access, entrance to Opening and Closing Night celebrations and more. Film Pass can be purchased for $110 (includes entrance to 11 films, + priority access). Passes are non-transferable. Individual ticket sales will go live on March 1st. Prices are: $12.00 General Audience, $10.00 Students/Seniors, $9.00 Members.
